We are heading back to Berlin. One good thing this night is very dark. We barley cross the coast and are jumped by a ME-110. He misses the first attack and the rear gunner gets us hard! We take a hit to the port wing root! then Another! Then the Mid-Upper gunners heat suit is out! He comes around, but we manage to get a damaging shot on him. We fly on and are almost to the target, a 110 attacks but cannot land a shot against us! We manage to get over the target & are met by a 110. We are hit, the control cables. A ME-109 zooms in out of the darkness & we take walking hits! The Starboard tailplane root is hit! Also the tailplane elevator! Which is inop! In all of the comotion we drop our bombs off target, missing the target completely. We hurridly seek refuge into the darkness. And turn for home. We are weary about combat, another hit to the port wing root and the wing might come completely off! We manage to get home without further detection. And have a safe landing.
