Tally Ho Chaps glad to see you back.
First Op and a bit hairy if i do say so, several fighters having a crack at us & one seriously wounding my Bomb Aimer — Mad Dog, in the hand. Damned bad luck!!!
Our baptism of fire started over Holland (zone 5) with a Tame Boar sneaking up on us and hitting our tail plane wing root & aileron, his second pass gave us some minor damage. Certainly a wake up call!!!
In zone 6 our mid upper turret suffered power failure leaving Shooter Suv heaving his guns around manually.
Zone 7 another bloody Hun sneaked up on us fortunatly missing on his first run but gave us hell on his second & third pass, wounding Mad Dog and hitting the Starboard wing root, Knocked out the O2 supply in the nose leaving me no choice but to descend to 10000ft. Port wing flap hit and one on the bombs!!! as well as a S.F. hit on the tail.
All quiet untill Zone 9 with another fighter missing us untill Shooter Suv manhandling his guns shot him down whilst i was throwing the old kite about!!
The Flak Gunners had their go and we had four shells slam into us, S.F. hit port wing and port rudder hit, tailplane hit with another S.F. on the tail. What with Mad Dog wounded my navigator — Shagga Shaw stepped up and dropped the bombs, off tgt and 0 percentage. On the turn around a tame boar was damaged which then turned tail and ran, leaving us with a quiet and un eventfull trip back.
Safe landing and Mad Dogs going to be ready for the next op. The ground crew are already patching up the 124 damage points on J Joanna.
