314 Sqdn: How to Play
-
You will need to own the game B-17: Queen of the Skies along with the
Lancaster Variant Rules,
or you may use Preston McMurry's emulator.
-
If you wish to join our squadron, send a message
with your name, your location, and the name of your plane. If you'll be keeping your own pages for your plane,
include the url.
-
All rules in the standard game, plus errata published in The General, will be used, with he
following exceptions:
-
The mission briefing will be posted on this site with all necessary information to fly the mission.
Each player will be notified via email when the new mission is posted. My plan is that each player
will have two weeks (including two weekends) to complete the mission.
-
There is no need to roll for target, base or target weather, or flak. These will all be determined
by the CO and will be posted on the Mission Briefing page.
-
We will use this fuel tank fire rule (based on one which probably originated in The
General): When a fuel tank fire occurs, an additional die roll be made with the following
results:
-
1: fire out, roll for leakage
-
2: fire continues, roll for leakage, must re-roll in each subsequent zone until other than
2
is rolled
-
3–4: controlled bailout
-
5–6: uncontrolled bailout
-
Feel free to use whatever optional rules enhance your enjoyment of the game.
-
Remember, your mission parameters will be set and posted. You will be responsible for rolling for
enemy fighters, rolling for flak hits (remember, flak intensity is already set) and dropping your bombs.
-
When the mission is complete, each player must fill out the
mission
completion form. A crewman is considered
lost
if he will not fly again. Each crew
member's name should be listed when he makes his first flight.
-
Any player that does not complete the mission on time will be considered not to have flown for
game purposes. Please notify me if you will not be able to fly. The simplest way is to fill out
the mission completion form, through
Safe Return? Did Not Fly (excused)
If you miss two missions in a row without first
notifying me you will be grounded.
