Defiant Revenge Mission 53 AAR : Berlin

Berlin for the first trip was a bit of a test but the crew performed well together to get us through.

Two tame boars showed up on route to the target, the first one knocking out the bomb release mechanism. The second only got in one burst of fire before Sgt Gooch in the nose turret shot him down.

Over the target we had searchlights cone us before a wild boar 109 caught us. His aim was less than accurate and he disappeared after one pass.

Special mention goes to Sgt Gooch who released the bomb load manually and without any hope of an accurate pattern, walked the tail end of the stick into the markers.

The return trip again attracted two wild boars that between them shredded the life rafts and knocked out the starboard aileron.

The landing was a good one but now we know what its all about, the next trip will not be so eagerly anticipated.

F/O Sam Tulley (Pilot Defiant Revenge).
